Baby Land Shark

For those wondering what’s a Baby Land Shark? First let’s get to know what the Land Shark is? The Herbst family who race Score desert racing were the first to take a Trophy Truck, and remove the body and skin it like a buggy and race it in class 1, which was a unlimited buggy class. This changed everything and created the term Truggy. (Truck/Buggy= Truggy) I think they won 7 championships with the Truggy which was named the Land Shark and its paint job secured the name.

So now you’re probably asking what does this have to do with a Can Am? Well recently the Herbst family asked Craig Hall to design a miniature Land Shark, but using the Can Am X3 drivetrain & suspension design.

Here are some CAD drawings Craig did of the chassis.

And here is the final build which was shown at this years Sand Sport Show, all Can Am X3 engine & drivetrain. I’m told they might build another 2 more making it a total of 3 Baby Land Sharks. Also they might build one using the Pro R powertrain. And these are not show pieces, and not race cars. These will be used to prerun Baja races courses and to just go have fun in. Definitely the coolest ever custom UTV ever built if you ask me, and it uses Can Am power!
